By the end of Q1, 2013 we'll leave Ireland for good to start a new life back in Germany. We'll settle in the Hamburg area. Am Ende des ersten Quartals 2013 werden wir Irland für immer verlassen um ein neues Leben zurück in Deutschland zu starten. Wir werden uns in der Gegend um Hamburg niederlassen.

Watch this space for a special announcement due in the afternoon on Christmas Day, Tuesday, December 25, 2012 .  For now, we wish you all a Merry Christmas.  An dieser Stelle gibt es am Nachmittag des 1. Weihnachtstages (Dienstag, 25. Dezember 2012) eine ganz spezielle Ankündigung. Man kann also gespannt sein. Jetzt wünschen wir aber erstmal Frohe Weihnachten. 

Apologies for the long silence, but actually there is nothing spectacular to report despite the fact that Ireland is still waiting for the first snow. If snow approaches we only hope that the authorities are better prepared as the last times.   Entschuldigung für die lange Stille, aber im Grunde gibt es auch nichts Spektakuläres zu berichten ausser dass  Irland immer noch auf den ersten Schnee wartet. Falls doch noch Schnee kommen sollte hoffen wir nur, dass die Kommunalverwaltungen dieses Mal besser vorbereitet sind. 

We are just back home after five very nice and relaxing days on the Beara Peninsula in County Cork.  Wir sind wieder zu Hause nach fünf schönen und erholsamen Tagen auf der Beara Halbinsel in der Graftschaft Cork. 

[Update 18.10.2012 | 10:00am: Arrived safely in Düsseldorf] Before we head off to County Cork next week, Caroline and our little one Samuel will travel to Düsseldorf for a couple of days by the end of this week. This will be the first flight for our son and we are curious to see if he likes it as we do.  Bevor es nächste Woche in Grafschaft Cork geht, werden Caroline und unser kleiner Samuel für ein paar Tage nach Düsseldorf am Ende dieser Woche reisen. Dies wird der erste Flug für unseren Sohn und wir sind schon gespannt ob er es genauso mag wie wir. 

[Update 12.10.2012 | 11:00pm: Germany hammered Ireland 6-1!] This Friday, the Republic Of Ireland will take on Germany as part of their FIFA World Cup 2014 Brasil Qualifier campaign (Group C) at the the Aviva Stadium in Dublin.  Diesen Freitag spielt die Irische Fussballnationalmannschaft gegen die Löw-Elf im Dubliner Aviva Stadion. Dies ist Teil der Qualifikation in der Gruppe C für die Fussball-Weltmeisterschaft 2014 in Brasilien.  

As you might know, we'll head off to a short break to County Cork in late October. The route has slightly changed and our turnstile will now be located in a village called Allihies in West County Cork just off the Atlantic Coast while the City of Cork is around 140km away (Note: County Cork is 3rd largest county on the island of Ireland according to population).  Wie nun schon angekündigt, geht es im Oktober in die Grafschaft Cork. Die Route hat sich einwenig geändert und unser Drehkreuz wird nun ein Dorf namens Allihies sein, welches sich im Westen der Grafschaft und direkt an der Atlantik-Küste befindet. Die Stadt Cork ist rund 140km entfernt (Zusatz: die Grafschaft Cork ist die drittgrösste auf der Insel Irland in Bezug auf die Bevölkerung).

For a couple of days in late October we will escape to the South coast of Ireland with stops in Kinsale, City of Cork and other interesting places.  Ende Oktober geht es für ein paar Tage an die Südküste Irlands. Wir werden Kinsale, Cork und andere interessante Orte besuchen. 

The last 72 days have been very interesting for us since the birth of our son Samuel Ciarán Kipchiri. As newbie parents, we've learnt a lot and are glad that our lil' one is developing quite well and currently rewards our efforts with broad, sweet smiles. Here are the latest photos. Enjoy!   Die letzten 72 Tage seit der Geburt unseres Sohnes Samuel Ciarán Kipchiri waren sehr interessant. Als neue und unerfahrene Eltern haben wir in dieser Zeit sehr viel gelernt. Wir sind sehr froh, dass er sich gut entwickelt und uns zur Zeit mit grossen, total suessen Laecheln belohnt. Anbei die neuesten Fotos. Viel Spass!

Back on tour. Even just a couple of days in late October. We plan to head off to destination somewhere in Ireland just to get some tranquillity after these wonderful, but also hectic weeks. It will also be the first trip for our little one.  Zurück auf Tour. Auch wenn nur für ein paar Tage im späten Oktober. Wir planen irgendwo in Irland etwas Ruhe nach diesen wunderschönen, aber auch hektischen Wochen zu bekommen. Dies wird auch die erste Reise für unseren Kleinen. 

We changed our plans for the last weekend and went to the annual 'St. Anne's Rose Festival' at 'St. Anne's Park and Gardens' on the border of Raheny and Clontarf, northeast of Dublin City. It was a very nice family day out including stalls with crafting, traditional Irish music, Viking expo and of course roses. The weather was just amazing, sunny with around 25 degrees. Photos to follow.  Wir haben unsere Pläne für das vergangene Wochenende noch geändert und haben das jährliche  'St. Anne's Rose Festival' im  'St. Anne's Park and Gardens' an der Grenze zwischen Raheny und Clonfarf, nordöstlich vom Dubliner Stadtzentrum, gefahren. Es war ein sehr schöner Familientag mit Verkausständen, die handgemachte Dinge anboten, traditioneller irischer Musik, einer Wikinger-Demonstration und natürlich Rosen. A recommendation for those who would like to experience the spirit of County Fingal. The "Flavours Of Fingal Show" will take place on July 21/22, 2012 at Newbridge House and Farm in Donabate. We'll be there and that means Samuel's first day out on a farm. More information can be found here .  Eine Empfehlung an alle die den Spirit der Grafschaft Fingal erleben möchten. Die "Flavours Of Fingal Show" ("Geschmäcker Fingals") findet am 21./22. Juli 2012 auf der Newbridge Farm in Donabate statt. Welcome on Planet Earth! Our son Samuel Ciarán  Kipchiri was born on Friday, June 1st, 2012 at 1:43pm at the Rotunda Hospital, Dublin.    Willkommen auf dem Planeten Erde!  Samuel Ciarán Kipchiri, unser Sohn, erblickte am Freitag, den 1. Juni 2012 um 13:43 Uhr im Rotunda Hospital in Dublin das Licht der Welt. 

Summer arrived in Ireland with temperates reaching more than 20 degress. Perfect weather to kick off the BBQ season.. Der Sommer ist in Irland angekommen. Temperaturen erreichen mehr als 20 Grad. Perfektes Grillwetter...

Ireland's national soccer team will host Germany on Friday, October 12th, 2012 as part of their World Cup 2014 Qualifier campaign at Dublin's Aviva Stadium. Tickets for this will go on sale next week and we hope to see this match live at the stadium. Prior the event in October, both teams have to survive their "groups of death" during the EURO 2012. See the groups below: Group B The Netherlands Denmark Germany (Current FIFA world rank : 2) Portugal Group C Spain Italy  Republic Of Ireland (Current FIFA world rank : 18) Croatia Irland's Fussballnationalmannschaft empfängt das deutsche Team am Freitag, den 12. We hope you've all had a restful Easter weekend as we did. We've finally managed to upload our photos from our recent spa trip to Bath . Check them out at this web album. We plan to visit Cork (Ireland's 2nd largest City) later on in Autumn this year, but nothing is set in stone yet. As most of you know, we currently have other more important things to take care of ;-).  Wir hoffen Ihr hattet ein schoenes Osterwochenende. Endlich sind wir dazu gekommen die Fotos von unserem Spa-Aufenthalt in Bath hochzuladen. Diese sind hier zu finden. Im Herbst beabsichtigen wir Cork (Irland's zweitgroesste Stadt) zu besuchen aber natuerlich ist noch nichts Festes geplant. Wie Ihr wisst, haben wir im Moment Wichtigeres zu erledigen ;-).

We're back in Dublin after a pretty nice and warm weekend in the City of Bath. It is highly recommended to visit this ancient city in Southwest England.  Wir sind wieder in Dublin nach einem schönen und warmen Wochenende in Bath. Die altertümliche Stadt im Südwesten Englands ist auf jeden Fall einen Besuch wert.

Next up will be a wellness weekend in the famous city of Bath in England.      Als nächstes steht ein Wellness Wochenende in der berühmten Stadt Bath in England auf dem Programm. 

Rammstein stopped by recently and were with them at the O2. Photos from the gig can be viewed online here .  Rammstein kamen ins O2 und wir waren dabei. Fotos vom Konzert gibt es online hier . 

It's a pity that our mini Germany tour already ended but at least we have some photos to save the memories of the wonderful 10 days we spent with family, relatives and friends. Our trip began in Duesseldorf, where we spent (literally) a few hours with our dear friend Vicky. Sebastian's brother was kind enough to come and pick us up from Duesseldorf so our first night was at Sebastian's family home in Dingelstaedt. With his mom's turning 60 on the weekend, Sebastian spent the whole of Friday with his brother trying to finish up a surprise presentation for their mum. On Saturday, the birthday party went really well, with great vibes, food and drinks and loads of dancing till 3am. Before leaving Dingelstaedt, we went to visit Sebastian's grandma in the nearby town Arnstadt. On Wednesday, we took the train to Munich where we spent two nights touring and eating Bavarian food. On Friday, we travelled further to Ulm, where we met Sebastian's uncle. We spent two nights

Controversial German Industrial Metal Band Rammstein, currently on their "Made In Germany 1995-2011" World Tour, will arrive at Dublins " O2 " arena on Monday, February 27th, 2012. Based on various press reports, this is the biggest live production worldwide at moment and should not be missed. We will have the opportunity to see this event and we're really looking forward... Die kontroverse deutsche Industrial Metal Band Rammstein ist augenblicklich auf ihrer "Made In Germany 1995-2011" Welt Tournee und werden am kommenden Montag, den 27. Februar 2012 in der Dubliner " O2 " Arena Halt machen. Basierend auf mehreren Presseberichten ist dies wohl die grösste Live-Produktion, die man weltweit bekommen kann und man sollte es nicht verpassen. Wir haben die Möglichkeit dieses Event zu sehen und freuen uns schon sehr darauf...

We're back in Dublin after 10 days in Germany. As usual, a short report and photos to follow.  Wir sind zurück in Dublin nach 10 Tagen in Deutschland. Wie immer wird ein kleiner Bericht und einige Fotos folgen. 

Winter's back with maximum power.  Severe icy conditions across Europe so fingers crossed for our flight on Thursday.    Der Winter ist mit voller Kraft zurück. Eises Kälte behindert Europa. Nun heisst es Daumen drücken für unseren Flug am Donnerstag. 

Only ten days to go (see the countdown on the right hand side) until our Germany tour kicks off in  Düsseldorf. We can't wait to be back on the road...    Nur noch zehn Tage (nach dem Countdown auf der rechten Seite) bis unsere Deutschland Tour startet. Wir k önnen es kaum erwarten wieder "auf Achse" zu sein...

This year is rather quiet in terms of travelling. We'll head off to an extended Germany tour starting on Thursday, February 9th, 2012. In March, we'll visit the famous city of Bath  in England and the tradional Easter trip will take us to Cork in April. More details here .      Dieses Jahr ist es einwenig ruhiger im Bezug auf Reisen. Am 9. Februar 2012 geht es auf eine etwas umfangreichere Deutschland-Tour. Im März folgt dann ein Abstecher in die berühmte Stadt Bath  in England und der traditionelle Oster Trip führt uns diesmal nach Cork. Weitere Informationen hier .
