Winter finally arrived also in Ireland. For the last couple of days we had temperatures as down as -9 degrees. Not spectacular for continental Europe around this time, however not that usual in Ireland. We will follow our hobby - traveling around the globe - even in 2010. Next year we will focus on Eastern Europe (Poland, Latvia, Slovakia, Russia), United States and Canada. Laura Izibor live at Tripod , Dublin on Saturday, November 28, 2009. Laura Izibor is an Irish recording artist, musician and producer. She won the RTÉ 2fm song contest while still in secondary school. She went on to win an award at the 2006 Meteor Music Awards. She also performed at that year's Electric Picnic music festival and Music Ireland 2007. Izibor has opened for Aretha Franklin, India.Arie, Estelle, Maxwell and John Legend on tour. Her debut album, Let the Truth Be Told, was released in Ireland on Friday 8 May 2009, and in the UK on Monday 18 May with a U.S. release to follow on 16 June. The album album peaked on the Irish charts at position 2 and the US Billboard Album Top 200 at rank 27. Her music can be described as a mélange between Joss Stone, Aretha Franklin and Alicia Keys. Wedding over! Honeymoon over! Back in Dublin! Now its time to postprocess the last 5 weeks... Hochzeit vorbei! Flitterwochen vorbei! Zurueck in Dublin! Nun ist es Zeit, die letzten 5 Wochen aufzuarbeiten...

Back from Las Vegas, our honeymoon is now almost over...All in all, we’ve been lucky with the weather. No rain at all. An oddity though, the US is such a credit card focused country, you may even pay your taxi with a credit card and may get weird looks when you try to pay in cash or with your debit card...incredible! Zurueck von Las Vegas neigen sich unsere Flitterwochen nun langsam dem Ende zu. Alles in allem hatten wir sehr grosses Glueck mit dem Wetter. Rein gar kein Regen. Eine Kuriositaet am Rande. Die USA sind ein extrem Kreditkarten-fokussiertes Land. Man kann sogar das Taxi mit der Kreditkarte bezahlen und wird moeglicherweise auch noch komisch angesehen wenn man bar oder mit der Bankkarte (EC Karte) bezahlen will...unglaublich!

On our return trip to LA, we were brave enough to drive 650km on the Interstate 5 after we discovered that our car had a cruise control function in combination with automatic steering that enabled us to set the car to drive ‘itself’ at a constant speed of 70mph (appr. 115km/h). In LA, we're currently at Hermosa Beach, which has a more lively pier. So far we've been to the Universal Studios, Hollywood Walk of Fame and Beverly Hills. Tomorrow we plan to travel to Las Vegas for two nights, then back to Hermosa Beach to spend the remaining days of our honeymoon. Photos and videos to follow as soon as possible. From there, we began the North tour visiting the Griffith Observatory in LA and watched the sunset at Malibu beach. Our first night was at Agoura Hills, facing the gigantic Santa Monica Mountains, stopping next at the Morro Bay. The last leg of our North trip took us through endlessly winding high cliff roads on the Big Sur coast, where we stopped several times to take in the beauty of the coastline and watch seals. In the late evening, we arrived in Brisbane, part of the bay area of San Francisco. The next day, we drove into Downtown and did a boat tour beneath the Golden Gate Bridge and the Alcatraz Island. The second day we visited some shopping malls in San Jose and drove through Silicon Valley, where some of the giant US companies like Google, Microsoft, Yahoo, McAfee are based. For those of you who have not been following us on Twitter , here is a summary of our honeymoon to date. As you know, we kicked off our Californian trip in LA at Manhattan Beach. After recovering from the jetlag, we picked up our car hire (Mitsubushi Eclipse) and travelled along the pacific coast highway (CA-01) down south to San Diego, where we swam in the Pacific Ocean on the Coronado Island and visited the Old Town as well as the Balboa Park. Fuer all diejenigen, die uns nicht bei Twitter folgen, hier eine kleine Zusammenfassung unserer Flitterwochen soweit. Wie Ihr wisst, haben wir unseren Trip durch Kalifornien in Los Angeles gestartet. Genauer am Manhattan Beach. Nachdem wir uns vom Jetlag erholt haben, haben wir unseren Mietwagen (Mitsubishi Eclipse) Richtung San Diego nach Sueden gefahren. Auf der Insel Coronado hatten wir die Moeglichkeit im Pazifik schwimmen zu gehen. Danach haben wir uns den Balboa Park und die Altstadt angesehen.

If you believe the first results, it seems to the Lisbon Treaty Referendum went through successfully this time. According to several newspapers, the turn-out was over 50% this year and led into a positive trend. More information can be found here and here . Our honeymoon preparations are now also complete. As you might know, we will head over to California just after we got married. Our turnstile will be Los Angeles and we plan to cruise around the westcoast state with planned destinations such as San Diego, Palm Springs, Santa Barbara, Carmel-By-The-Sea, San Francisco and plenty of others. We will leave rainy Ireland for three weeks sunshine. Die Vorbereitungen zu unseren Flitterwochen sind nun auch komplett. On October 2, 2009 Ireland is asked the second time to vote for or against the Lisbon Treaty. After last years debacle with dirty campaigns and less background information about the actual sense, Irish citizens voted clearly with "no" as they were simply confused. This years referendum will show if Ireland has learned from last year as such a decision is important for the Irish as part of the EU. We as non-native Irish citizens are not eligible to vote. We are now about to enter the "hot phase" regarding our wedding preparations. Everything is on track. Less than 8 weeks to go to our big day which we will celebrate with a ceremony on Inis Mor, Aran Islands, Ireland. Wir sind kurz davor die "heisse Phase" unserer Hochzeitsvorbereitungen zu beginnen. Dingelstädt continues to celebrate their 150th anniversary, we are back in Dublin. This last weekend we spent with family and friends was packed with plenty of live music and a BBQ. Just to name one highlight: There will be an open air concert called "The Best Of Rock And Classic" on Saturday, August 8, 2009 performed by East German rock legend Vital and the "Thüringen Philharmonie". Our mission in Ireland is now accomplished. Actually we could leave Ireland, now we got it all - the last piece was a live gig from Irish superstars U2. On Friday, July 24, 2009 we achieved this goal. U2 live at Croke Park Stadium, Dublin. U2 delivered an energetic show in front of 80,000 people with a couple of new songs from their latest album "No Line On The Horizon", however with more of their greatest hits - "Sunday Bloody Sunday", "One", "Beautiful Day", "Desire", "Bad", "Where The Streets Have No Name" or "With Or Without You", just to name a few (the full set list can be found below). Framed in a gig antic light show Bono & Co. convinced even Sebastian, who was always a bit sceptic in regards to U2... Unsere Mission in Irland ist nun erfüllt. Sebastian headed off to Schaffhausen in Switzerland last week for a business trip. Apart from the work he has done there, he found tim e to visit Schaffhausen town and the famous "Rheinfall", the biggest waterfall in Europe. Sebastian war letzte Woche für ein paar Tage dienstlich in Schaffhausen in der Schweiz. Neben der Arbeit, die er dort erledigen musste, fand er die Zeit sich Schaffhausen und den berühmten "Rhe infall", den grössten Wasserfall Europas an zusehen.

U2 just started their "360° Tour" worldtour in Barcelona in front of 90,000 fans. This massive production is scheduled for three days in their hometown at Croke Park Stadium on July 24, 25 and 27. Luckily we got tickets for the show on Friday, July 24 and we are really looking forward to this because U2 are part of Irish culture. Photos from the Barcelona show can be found here . Summer finally arrived in Ireland. Since the last one and a half weeks, Ireland enjoys sunshine and temperatures in an average level of 22 - 24 degrees which is very unusual for the island as June/July are usually very wet. More details can be found here . Der Sommer ist nun endlich auch in Irland angekommen. Seit eineinhalb Wochen geniessen wir Sonnenschein und Durchschnittstemperaturen von 22 bis 24 Grad. Das ist durchaus unüblich für die Insel, da der Juni/Juli eigentlich verregnet ist. Mehr Information dazu gibt es hier .

We were off from work for the last action-packed week. On Monday, we went out golfing at Deer Park in Howth followed by a BBQ at the nearby Sutton beach. The following day we headed to Scotland, to Edinburgh to be precise in order to celebrate Sebastian's birthday. The remaining days we just enjoyed the sun on Velvet Strand (this is correct, it's not called Velvet Beach!) at Portmarnock and at Ardgillan Castle close to Skerries. This was really uns ual as normally w e do n ot have about 30 degrees in June here in Ireland. Photos to follow soon. Wir hatten die letz te Woche Ferien, aber diese W oche war vollgepackt mit Aktivitäten. Am Montag sind wir Golfen im Deer Park auf Howth gegangen, gefolgt von einem BBQ am nahegelegenen Sutton Beach. Am darauffolgenden Tag sind wir nach Schottland, genauer nach Edinburgh geflogen um Sebastian's Geburtstag zu feier n. An den restlichen Tagen haben wir einfach die Sonne am Velvet Strand (der heisst wirklich so, nicht Velvet Beach!)

It's been a week since we got back from the sunny and beautiful Prague. We visited our dear friend Stefan, who relocated from Dublin to Prague last year. We flew with Aerlingus late on friday afternoon and had a bit of a scare when our plane flew into turbulante weather just before landing leading to a few screams from some passengers. But thank God we landed safe and sound. Stefan met us at the airport and escorted us to our hotel, which was located just 5mins. walk from his house. Saturday was a brilliant day with long spells of sunshine. We did a pedal boat tour on the Moldau river, then headed to the famous Charles bridge, then toured the massive, picturesque castle on the hill. We spent the rest of the day at the Czech beer festival which reminded us of the German october festival. Sunday was even hotter, so we went to chill at a Park then had the obligatory, delicious Goulasch dish. We visited the old town before heading back to the airport, flying right into Caroline's

We are just back from a very nice trip to hot and sunny Prague. We had a wonderful weekend in the Czech Republic. As usual, a short report and photos to follow soon. We have just added two new destinations as part of our "2009 Tour". We will celebrate Sebastian's 30th birthday in Scotland's Edinburgh. On next Saturday, April 25, 2009 Caroline & Sebastian will head to The O2 here in Dublin. The Australian Pink Floyd Show is scheduled to perform there arena-large "The Wall" production. The Australian Pink Floyd Show is a high budget tribut (cover) band. Their shows are close to the original Pink Floyd shows with almost all details. Am kommenden Samstag, 25. In a month time, the annual Eurovision Song Contest will take place in the Russian capital Moscow. Irish ambassadors are singer Sinéad Mulvey & Black Daisy. They will perform their song "Et Cetera" (a girlie-pseudo-rock song) and their are set to pass the new second semi-final (a new rule) to qualify for the final on Saturday, May 16, 2009. However, this song has a catchy chorus and chances are actually not that bad. The German participators are called Alex Swings Oscar Sings! and their title "Miss Kiss Kiss Bang", which is actually an irrelevant Swing Euro Dance - whatever song . We are just back from County Donegal and what should we say? It was simply amazing. The landscape is breathtaking - mountains, beaches, sheep's and the northerly point of Ireland...Donegal has it all. We got the feeling that the time stood still. This is Ireland! Caroline and Sebastian will head off to their traditional Easter Trip (trip within Ireland) on the upcoming weekend. Last time we traveled through County Kerry. This time, our journey will bring us to County Donegal. We will visit Malin Head (the northerly headland of Ireland), the towns Letterkenny and Donegal and finally we will cruise along the Atlantic coast. Dieses Mal führt uns der Weg in die Grafschaft Donegal. Wir werden den Malin Head (den nördlichsten Punkt Irlands), die Städte Letterkenny und Donegal besuchen. Weiterhin werden wir entlang der Atlantik-Küste fahren.

As mentioned in our tour schedule, we traveled briefly to Amsterdam last weekend. We left Dublin quite early on Saturday morning and arrived safely in Shiphol airport ~1hr later. We were quite impressed by the superb organization at the airport of such grand size. Upon arrival, we took a train, then a taxi to our hotel. However, it was raining when we got to the hotel, which also happened to be under construction, hence our first impression wasn't quite exciting. We left our luggage at the hotel and traveled towards the city center, where we had breakfast. Luckily, the grey clouds improved and got clearer in the afternoon. Since Amsterdam has minimum monuments, we spent the majority of the time walking through the small streets with canals and bikes everywhere. Due to the large crowd of drunk Scotts and Dutch football fans, we realised that Netherlands was playing a football match against Scottland, which we watched during dinner in one of the restaurants in town in the vicinity of

On the last weekend we decided to head over to visit the funny neighbors of Germany, the Netherlands. We spent two nice and days in Amsterdam. Caroline and Sebastian are among with other 160,000 lucky people who get a ticket for one the two U2 shows at Dublin's Croke Park Stadium on July 24 and 25, 2009. In a record breaking 15minutes all in total 160,000 tickets were sold out. Caroline und Sebastian gehören zusammen mit anderen 160.000 Menschen zu den Glücklichen, die ein Ticket für eines der beiden U2 Konzerte im Dubliner Croke Park Stadion am 24. und 25. As you know, we live in Ireland for a quite a long time and we always thought that our Irish adventure would be fulfilled when we get the chance to see a live concert from one the world's most successful Irish rock bands. Here it comes with a bit delay-our short report about our trip to Budapest two weeks ago. Overall, it was a very cold but very beautiful St. Valentine's trip. We left Dublin on Friday (13.02.) afternoon with RyanAir, after 2hours and 45minutes flight we approached Hungary's capital. After the check-in and dinner at the hotel "Gellert", which is actually a massive complex not only featuring a hotel, more a hotel/spa complex, we decided to check out the area. Although it was already dark, we could enjoy the fresh air coming from the river Donau. In the morning of St. Valentine's day, we went swimming in the "Gellert Bath" before having breakfast. The rest of the day we spent sightseeing in this old city. There are plenty of monuments to discover, like the Gellert hill, the Parliament, cathedrals and much more. Roots Reggae live in Dublin with The Wailers . The Wailers Band was the backing band for Bob Marley & The Wailers from 1974 until Bob Marley's death in 1981. Bob Marley originally started singing with The Wailers, together with among others Bunny Wailer and Peter Tosh. Following the demise of The Wailers, Bob Marley proceeded with his group Bob Marley & The Wailers, with the Wailers Band as the backing band, and the I Threes as backup vocalists. The Wailers Band consisted of among others bassist Aston "Family Man" Barrett and his brother, drummer Carlton (Carlie) Barrett, who had been members of Lee "Scratch" Perry's studio band, The Upsetters, with whom The Wailers had recorded some of their most notable songs. As you might know, we love to travel. In the right hand navigation menu you will find a table showing our "tour dates" for this year. Unfortunately, after lunch in a restaurant at Champs Elys ees, Caroline got some stomach bug later in the afternoon and so we got some medicine from a pharmacy and went back to the hotel to rest. At around 8pm, Caroline felt better so we went to an Italian restaurant where we received great food and really friendly service. At 11.30pm we joined other thousands of people all heading towards the Eiffel tower. It was amazing being part of such a huge but peaceful crowd. At exactly 00:00, the tower lit up and fireworks went up from both sides of the river as the crowd cheered on and opened their bottles of champagne. Indeed, Paris is the most romantic city we've visited so far. We've already uploaded some of our pics to picasa, so the link is available under the photo & video corner .
