The Eichsfeld is a historical region in the southeast of Lower Saxony and Thuringia which is called "Untereichsfeld" = lower Eichsfeld) and northwest of Thuringia ("Obereichsfeld" = upper Eichsfeld) in the south of the Harz mountains. Until 1803 the Eichsfeld was for centuries part of the Archbishopric of Mainz, which was the cause of its current position a catholic enclave in the predominantly Protestant in the north of Germany. Following German partition in 1945, the West German portion became Landkreis Duderstadt. The Eichsfeld is also the native province of Sebastian, who is strongly recommending a visit there. The annual RBS Six Nations Rugby Cup is scheduled to start soon. Ireland, England, Scotland, Wales, Italy and France fighting for the European rugby crown. The first match between Ireland and Italy will take place at Dublin's Croke Park Stadium on Saturday, 2nd February 2008. The tournament with matches across all six nations will contain 15 games with the final match between France and Wales in Cardiff. The current trophy holder is France. Dingelstädt , Eichsfeld , Germany. The hometown of Sebastian. Sebastian would like to give a sightseeing recommendation if you get the chance to visit the little town with its river Unstrut. Of course there are plenty of places to visit, but to go for a walk to the "Kerbsche Berg" should not be forgotten. The hill with its abbey (1893) as well as with its crosswalk (1752-1764), the grottoes and the cemetery of the Franziskus monks. There you can find tranquility, history and relaxation.
