Newbridge House and Park

Last Sunday we used the very nice spring weather and headed off to Newbridge House and Park, located in nearby Donabate. We also spent time at the traditional farm with plenty of animals like chickens, horses, cows and pigs. It is truly worth a visit. Pictures to follow soon. 

Am letzten Sonntag haben wir das sehr schöne Frühlingswetter genutzt und sind zum Newbridge House und Park im nahegelegenen Donabate gefahren. Wir haben dort auch Zeit auf einer traditionellen Farm mit einer Fülle an Tieren wie Hühner, Pferde, Kühe und Schweine, verbracht. Ein Besuch dort lohnt sich auf jeden Fall. Bilder gibt es bald.

Cultural trip to Newgrange

Since winter is slowly but surely coming to an end, we decided to take a short cultural tour of one of Ireland's World Heritage Site, the 5000 years old tomb of Newgrange, which is situated a mere 30mins. drive from Malahide. One highlight of this megalithic site is the demonstration of the sun illumination by the winter solstice sunrise that lights up the chamber for appr. 17 minutes just before 9am. Da sich der Winter allmählich verabschiedet, haben wir uns ganz spontan entschieden, Newgrange zu besichtigen. Newgrange gehört zum ca. 5000 jährigen Weltkulturerbe Irlands und liegt ca. 30 Minuten Autofahrt nördlich von Malahide. Ein besonderer Moment in diesem Hügelgrab ist die Vorführung des Sonnenlichtstrahls, das an etwa 13 Tagen jeden Jahres um die Wintersonnenwende  bei Sonnenaufgang durch eine Öffnung über dem Eingang für ca. 17 min. in den Gang und die Kammer eindringt. North America Tour: 1st leg postponed and replaced

As mentioned on Twitter, we intended to have a two-leg North American tour this year. However, the first part  has been postponed until 2011. The second leg will go ahead as planned, we just need to finalize the dates. The tour in May will be replaced with a tour all over Ireland.

Wie in Twitter erwähnt, beabsichtigten wir auf eine zweiteilige Nordamerika Tour dieses Jahr zu gehen. Der erste Teil, der für Mai geplant wird auf 2011 verschoben. Der zweiteTeil allerdings läuft wie geplant. Nur der genaue Zeitraum muss noch festgelegt werden. Die Tour im Mai wird durch eine ausgedehnte Irland-Tour ersetzt.

Valentine's weekend in Barcelona

Hola! After a rather "bumpy" start of the month, we've just returned from a well-deserved city break in Barcelona. This time around, we booked a hotel right in downtown, but also walking distance to the beach. The bus transfer to and from the hotel was more than perfect. After visiting the majority of Barcelona's major sights and drinking lots of Sangria, we spent the remaining days walking through the winding tiny streets between the magnificent catalonian buildings. With over 500 photos taken in 3 days, this is indeed one of Europe's romantic city.

Hola! Nach einer kurzen "Pechsträhne" im Februar sind wir soeben aus einem wohl verdienten Valentinswochenende in Barcelona zurückgeflogen. Diesmal haben uns entschieden, ein Hotel mitten im Stadtzentrum zu buchen, das ebenfalls Fussweg vom Strand entfernt war. Der Bustransfer vom Flughafen verlief reibungslos. Nachdem wir die Sehenswürdigkeiten dieser Stadt besichtigt und ausreichend Sangria genossen hatten, sind wir meistens durch die schmalen Strassen zwischen den katalonischen Gebäuden spazieren gegangen. Mit über 500 Photos innerhalb von 3 Tagen ist Barcelona wirklich eine der romantischsten Städte Europas.
